1/29/2010: We interviewed Charlie at Hillsborough High in Tampa as he was working out with the team to stay in shape hoping for a possible free agent call from a MLB team for spring training. He was realistic that at age 30 the clock is ticking on his playing career. But having made it to the show for a touch over four months in 2008 with Washington, he yearns for one more call to the bigs before he hangs up the cleats.

He spoke of the awe he felt during his big league debut, and how he still can’t believe the feeling of eating at the best restaurants and staying at the Ritz Carlton on the road after nearly seven years of beating the bushes in the minors. “It all happened so fast. I got the call up and before I knew it, it was September. I want to get back there one more time,” Manning said. “There’s nothing like it.”
